RADIO APPEARANCE, IRELAND;
BBC TV: FACE THE MUSIC

Radio and Television Appearances
October 1953.
Cast: Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Henry Hall.

    While on tour of the British Isles in 1953, Stan and Babe appeared on radio in Ireland and on a live BBC television broadcast of the popular show Face the Music with host Henry Hall a week later.  Unfortunately, these shows do not appear to have been preserved on record, tape or kinescope, but author and L&H Scholar A. J. Marriot (author of Laurel and Hardy - The British Tours) reprinted a page each from these media appearances, in The Laurel and Hardy Magazine, Vol. 4, Number 10.  Since A.J. Marriot owns these scripts, we will not reprint the pages in full, but the cute and in-character nature of the sketches devised for these appearances can be gleaned by one reprinted gag from Face the Music: Ollie informs Stan that the television program has an audience of six million and that host Henry Hall is "going to introduce us to them".  To which Stan replies "That's going to take a long time, isn't it?"
